Artemis

In Greek mythology, Artemis (Greek: (nominative) Ἄρτεμις, (genitive) Ἀρτέμιδος) was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo. She was usually depicted as the maiden goddess of the hunt, bearing a bow and arrows. Later she became associated with the moon, as her brother was with the sun.

She was one of the most widely venerated of the gods and manifestly one of the oldest deities (Burkert 1985:149). In later times she was associated and considered synonymous with the Roman goddess Diana. In Etruscan mythology, she took the form of Artume. Deer and cypress are sacred to her

Story

Artemis is the name of a special weapon located within Rena's Flagship, The Valhalla, which surprisingly bares the same name as the human varient.

The weapon isn't original the Neko Population, instead it was made by Kalshion and Katarina and placed on the Neko's new homeworld. At the time Kalshion felt the magnetic field would hide the weapon, but a thousand years after the planet was colonized an expedition to an underground cave uncovered the weapon housed within a highly advanced chamber.

While searching the chamber the expedition found a series of note's strangely written in ancient neko language, however improper translation resulted in it claiming to be from 'god'

The Testarossa Royal Family later removed the weapon from the chamber and housed it within the Valhalla.

Special Weapon System

The weapon in its chambers makes a special anti-matter material that reacts violently to shields and continues on to the ship to touch the matter, thus resulting an explosion.

The Anti-matter is encased in a magnetic shell that projects the 'bullet' from the chamber and also from the particles in space. The weapons range is moderate, due to limitations to how long the magnetic shell around the weapon stays active.

The firing mechanism is akin to that of a rail gun.

The 'bullets' are created every hour, and the weapon can store thirty of these within it's storage bays. They are capable of being fired in rapid succession, but once out the weapon must cool down. Even so, only fifteen can be fired in a single minute, thus the weapon requires a forty second cool down period.

The weapon 'bullet' including its shell is about 24 meters in diameter.

Other weapon systems

Along with the main weapon, are eight flak artillery arrays, two located on the northern, southern, eastern and western platforms of the weapon. To add to the weapons firepower are four graviton beam cannons and four meson beam cannons, along with two high energy laser cannons. One located on the forward, and another on the back of the weapon.

Even the above aren't enough, so the entire body is overed in a field of lightning that can lash out and destroy approuching enemy ships. Thanks to the on-board computer systems, the field is able to tell friend from foe, the AI onboard is immune to the Bjuher assimalation effects.

Drive System

While the weapon is stationary and such, it can move under very specific circomstances, like when it's being brought into the hanger bay of the Valhalla. However, another instance is when the AI actually deem's an approuching target a bigger threat, in that effect it'll use the four anti-matter drives and thruster packs to avoid incoming fire

Reactor Core

Unbeknowst to the Nekos, the reactor core of the Artemis is actually an anti-matter reactor, backed up by four smaller versions of that reactor. This explains why the weapon is so powerful, and why it's shield generators can withstand so much punishment and not fall. The reactor utilize's a special recylcing system, so that the reactor can stay online for longer periods, fuel is stored in several large tanks located throughout the weapon itself,

Crew

Artemis is a fully functional weapon which does not require a crew, however in the event that the AI goes offline a crew can board and resume firing of the weapon. While the onboard AI is immune to the Bjuher, it still won't take a chance and if it detects a Bjuher controlled ship in the area it will shutdown and lock itself away behind over a million firewalls.

Size and Dimensions

As stated, the main chamber of the weapon is 1.6 km long. However, the weapon(station) itself is only 3.2 km's long, and roughly thirty feet wide toward the backend of the weapon, shrinking to merely five feet toward the front.

The Valhalla that house's this weapon is six miles long

Still a work in progress
