RoP
From Cursix Tales
Developed and created by the Royal Court of Alkon. This Rite also develops the same on Qion shortly after it is colonized. This Rite is under taken in a chamber created from magic and can only be accessed from the Royal Court Chambers.
The Rights of Passage are a set of nine trials. Each Trial gets progressively harder than the last and potentionally more deadly.
Primary Rite of Passage
The Primary Rite of Passage occurs when a child (Whether Royal or not) reaches thirteen years of age. This right involves three trials, each one based on something different.
The First trial tests knowledge
The Second trial tests magic
The Third trial tests combat
During the trials, Telepathic Communication and Teleportation are made useless thanks to the barriers that surround the trial grounds. The Test of Knowledge is made to see if the child has actually been paying attention in school (Since it's important) The Test of Magic is made to see how much of the basics a child knows in terms of magical usage.
The Test of Combat is made to see how much of the basics a child knows in terms of combat prowess.
Upon completion of the trial's they will be permitted to under the secondary trial when they feel they are ready.
The Primary Rite of Passage is optional for Nekolian Citizen Children. It is, however, mandatory for Royal Children.
Secondary Rite of Passage
The Secondary Rite of Passage occurs when a Citizen Child reaches nineteen years of age; however Royal Children are expected to be able to under-take this trial at thirteen years of age (Three months AFTER they complete the first trial).
Through the Secondary RoP Teleportation and Telepathic magic is rendered useless - plus the rites must be undertaken indivually, siblings of the same age or slightly older or younger may NOT take the trials at the same time.
The Secondary RoP involves the last three trials (Plus a few additional trials):
Trial of Combat
Trial of Magic
Trial of Survival
Trial of Knowledge
Trial of Duel
Trial of Fire
- Trial of Combat
- Trial of Combat is a test to see how much time a child can last in combat until they ultimately become overwhelmed (Time Limit of two hours)
- Trial of Magic
- Trial of Combat is a test to see how powerful they are and where there magic stands.
- Trial of Survival
- Trial of Survival is a trial that is difficult because the Child is placed in a wild without any gear or supplies; they are expected to survive on their own without any outside help. Think of it as Military Combat Survival. Magic is permitted.
- Trial of Knowledge
- Trial of Knowledge is must like the first RoP, it's a set of questions thrown out at them that tests they're knowledge in certain subjects (Mathematics, Word Comprehension, stuff like that)
- Trial of Duel
- Trial of Duel is a trial where the person must duel there other self - a mirror image of their own who knows everything they know. They must defeat this other self in order to continue, beware - they know everything they're real self knows and they think alike.
- Trial of Fire(NCC)
- The Trial of Fire that Nekolian Citizen Children undertake is a duel against a Royal Court Guardian is a bit more compassionate and forgiving; they won't attack when the child is down, but instead, wait patiently for the child to get back up. The goal here is out lasting the Guardian
- Trial of Fire(RC)
- The Trial of Fire that Nekolian Royal Children undertake is vastly different than what Nekolian Citizen Children undertakes. This Trial is perhaps the most deadly of all the other trials because the guardian does not let go and will constantly attack no matter what - even if the child is down. The Goal here is for the child to show authority over the guardian and to make the guardian understand his - or her - authority. This can be obtained either by talk or by defeating the guardian. The reason this trial is deadly because the guardian can potentionally KILL the child, whether intentional or not, it's up to the child to constantly be on their feet.
For both Trials of Fire magic is fully usable, and teleportation can be used only within the trial. Telepathic magic, however, is still disabled and the trial must be done alone; with no help from anyone.
Upon completing the Secondary RoP, the child is allowed to forge their own very unique weapon (A weapon that is inseparable) for Royal's this means they will be allowed to ascend the throne.
To date only one Royal Child has died in the Trial by Fire.
