Kalis Junius is the famous scientist who discovered a way to save most of his staff from WW 5, though he didn't succeed in protecting most of his family, only his youngest daughter Koyori Junius actually survived the war. His parents were born in Japan just before WW3, but was forced to flee just before the war. They settled in a Japanese accepted town in an area of the world that had been left unaffected by the war, there Kalis was born and grew up with a love of science, however his town quickly fell under the iron thumb of the Sashion who drafted him into the scientific community.

Junius is responsible for making the Kalis Miracle, which is what allowed the Sashion government to remove most of the radiation from the planet and exact more control than ever. Angered that his government would use his device just to gain territory, he decided to seal it away from it to be used by good at some later date.

When Kalis and his scientific team were under cyrogenic suspension a nuclear missile had his right on top of the bunker. While the bunker miraculusly survived, the result was a heavy dose of radiation that killed half of his staff. However, strangely the radiation had an adverse effect on him and the remainder of his staff and his daughter, instead of killing them the radiation somehow stopped their aging.

Arrogant and foolhardy, Kalis thinks more of scientific progress though he does have a bit of caring for his staff and family.
